Camping at Cherry Creek

My 3 boys.
Nati & I taking a ride on the mini.
Emily was a good sport and took the kids for rides.
Dylan and Nati in the back of the Rhino.
The boys coming in for a break.
give the girl a spoon and sand and she's happy.

Last weekend we went camping with some friends, Brandon & Angie and some of their family. Brandon has 4 girls, of which 2 are older and have motorcycles along with my boys. Cherry Creek was the perfect place to take them. It's about an hour south - which means that there were not any hook ups for water or electricity - a FIRST for me. Real camping (with a generator which provided the air conditioner and power for the laptop to watch movies, so really not so bad) which was really fun. The kids could walk out the trailer door and hop right on their toys and ride around.... And the perfect part was that we could see them ride all over the trails without leaving the trailer. At the end of the days we had to take the key away from Brax so that he would come and eat and drink. He had so much fun and was so super dirty. Angie's family brought a Rhino, basically a 4 wheeler for 4. Nati fell in love with it. She rode it every chance she got and even climbed on it when rides weren't being given. There was even a couple of screaming fits when we took her off so that the other kids could have a turn. The moms took a ride on it and it was so stinkin' fun. It was a fun weekend and has gotten me excited to take the kids again.

Wasatch Back 2010

Logan to Park City, 188 Miles, 12 runners, 2 teams, 29 hours......

asked to run, started training, running 2 a days twice a week, nervous, excited, packed for me & family, 3 hours of sleep in Logan, start at 5:30, first run 7 miles in 1 hour, wonderful, feeling good, cheer others on, rest, eat, drink, laugh, run again, massive heat, 3.5 miles in 30 minutes, drink, die, rest, eat, cheer others on, a bit stinky, laugh more, eat, try to sleep, no sleep, run again, 2 a.m., 3.5 miles in 28 minutes, dark, little scary, broken tail light, really stinky, DONE, try to cheer others on, sleep, drink, snack, too tired to do anything, not functioning at all, 7 a.m. crash on hotel floor, 8:30 a.m. best shower ever, go to meet team, and last but most important FINISH the race.

That about sums up my weekend. I've been training for a while now and actually did it. I had to fight back tears as we went across the finish line. Jason was there and the kids finished it with me. My sister-in-law Katy ran it also & she did great. It made for a fun Father's Day weekend with a lot of the family there. It was so much fun and I can't wait to do it again. Huge thanks to Jason and the kids for putting up with my running and supporting me and believing in me. And thanks to Angie and the best team ever for making it so much fun.

Who's that lady....

I know I've posted different conversations with Braxton before so these are no surprise. We've had a couple of funny ones lately that I have to document.
The 1st: We were outside a week ago roasting marshmallows. It was super hot and Jason asked Braxton why he REFUSES to wear shorts. Just a little preface - he really won't wear shorts unless there is no other option. So Jason asks and this is his reply: "Cause I have sexy legs." With extreme shock we ask where he heard that and he says "I saw it on tv. You know that song - Who's that lady...sexy lady? Well, I have sexy legs so I can't wear shorts." And then he starts singing the song. If you have no idea what song I'm talking about watch the Swiffer commercial and you will hear it. It was hilarious. He normally won't sing and be the center of attention but he was just singing away.

The 2nd: While driving home from dinner the other night he randomly says "I'm not getting married because my wife will be stressed out about the house because of the lasers." Um.... ok, didn't know we were discussing getting married but go ahead and think that thought for about another 15 years.

He is so funny & I love it when he pops out with this stuff!

Future Cheerleader

Natalie has been taking a Mini Cheer Clinic for the past two weeks. The High School cheer squad teach the girls different cheers and dances. She has loved it! Tonight was the Cheer Spectacular. She did so good. I actually was surprised that she would sit there without me right there - let alone get out there on the dance floor and shake her booty. When her group was done and going back to sit down the next group was coming down and somehow she got a little lost. My parents were there and we were back in the stands looking for her and couldn't see her. So... we all climbed over people to get out and find her. By the time we got there she was back with her group. She gave me a little scare but it all ended up good. She looked so stinkin' cute and did so well!! Go Nati!! Jason has been out of town and couldn't see her dance tonight, so here you go daddy. We miss you and want you back home.

Live life, Live it wElle

Every Memorial Day weekend we all get excited for the annual Live wElle festivities. There's a 5k run early in the morning and then the different kids runs after. Jason and Dylan were gone on a fishing trip so they had to miss out on it. I ran the 5k and came in at my fastest time ever - 25 minutes. It may not sound like that great of a time but I beat my old time by 4 minutes. I have to give credit to my cute little brother. Dustin & Kellie started running a few months ago and came to do it with us. I was just around the corner from the finish line & ready to be done when all of a sudden, here comes Dustin running past saying "Let's go." I picked it up a little and finished.... behind him. I was pretty proud of myself though. With the two oldest boys being gone my cute dad stayed with Brax & Nati while I finished mine and went back to walk with my mom. She did great. Then Braxton ran the 800. He did so good but wanted to quit about 10 yards from the finish line. Natalie ran the little kids run after that. She did so good and ran her little heart out. I walked my parents back to my house and went back to the park for the prizes and the releasing of the balloons. I didn't win a prize but that's ok because I got to be there for the balloons. When the race is done the pink & white balloons are passed out while the song "Over the Rainbow" is played and everyone lets their balloon go. The weather had been threatening to rain the entire time. Right as the music started the sun made it's way through the clouds. It was a wonderful moment and I am so glad I got to be there & cry along with everyone else. I know little Elle was watching and brought the sun to us. It was a great day!! And, as if it could have been any better, Dustin took 2nd place in his age group while Aunt Lynette, mom and I took 3rd place in our age groups.

Natalie's race. She's in the purple jacket with pink pants. Me, Mom, Dad, Nati & Braxton
Braxton getting ready for his race.
It was freezing cold so he was not sure he wanted the Otter Pop.
I can't even remember why we were laughing but it obviously was hilarious.Happy and surprised with our medals.
